Hello Readers,
My name is Usha and I welcome you to Veg Inspirations, a site where I share recipes, tips and any information that I come across with regard to health and nutrition. I am passionate about healthy food and believe that a good healthy diet is one of the mainstays of good health. I also believe that healthy food does not automatically translate to bland and boring food, healthy food can be tasty and delicious and you never need to sacrifice taste to achieve health.
Some of the recipes on this site are ones that I have learned from my mother, mother in law and various different sources including family and friends. Some of the recipes are concoctions that arose completely in my kitchen in an attempt to make healthy food or as a way to include various healthy foods in my family's diet.
All the recipes on this site are vegetarian and quite a few of them are vegan as well. Of course there are the occasional indulgences.....read desserts, that I make for special days that you will find here too.
Hope you enjoy your visit to this site and visit again. If you have any questions about a recipe, or a recipe request, feedback or just want to say Hi feel free to email me at veginspirations@gmail[dot]com or leave your comments under any post. I would love to hear from you. If you've tried anything from the site, please do share a picture and your thoughts on the same either directly through facebook or email me at the above address.
You can also connect with me on Twitter , FaceBook or follow this site by becoming a fan of this page on Facebook or by subscribing for updates

I accidentally visited your website when I was looking for the barley soup recipe. I am so happy that I found it. You have included complex carbohydrates in your recipes like barley, brown rice and oats. I really appreciate your true and conscious effort in making healthy Indian recipes.
Keep up the good work.

My sister just mentioned about your website & I am sure both of us will be regular visitors from now on. Very nice recipies.
Also, wanted to comment about cabbage being a substitute for onion. Yes, I use it very often - especially in Pesarattu & Adai. Instead of adding chopped onion to the batter for an interesting taste & flavour, you can add chopped cabbage & it gives the same feel & texture.
Once again, thank you for this wonderful website.

When I was younger I worked in Indian owned vegetarian restaurants in Vancouver BC along side Punjabi ladies who introduced me to, and taught me how to cook, many delicious things. Today I am a type 2 diabetic exploring lower glycemic carbohydrates like quinoa while drawing on my previous natural food vegetarian experience. Your ideas for incorporating healthy whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, barley and oats into traditional dishes are simply sensational. Looking forward to trying your recipes for dosai. Bookmarked.

I got your website from an article on Yahoo that mentioned some of the most popular Indian cooking blogs. You have done a wonderful job with the website and your way of writing and sharing the recipes and pictures is very appealing. I will be a regular now. I have scanned through most of the recipes in the recipe index and would like to try a few of the slow cooker recipes as well as the Kulcha recipe. Keep up the good work!
